With Olark, You Can Follow Customers Around Your Online Store To Make ...
July 27, 2010, 10:29 pm | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

Last August, we first wrote about Olark, a Y Combinator-funded startup that gave e-commerce site owners a simple way to interact with their customers: an IM widget. Now, Olark is expanding the functionality of these IMs to include detailed information about that shopper in realtime, and partnering with Shopify to make it easy to install. For example, with this new Olark tool, dubbed Shopping Cart Saver, a site owner can get an IM every time someone hits the site. And you can...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

Not Only Is Google Places Going After Yelp, They’re Doing So With Yelp...
July 26, 2010, 9:00 pm | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

Earlier today, we noted that an update to Google Maps for Mobile was the clearest sign yet of Google going directly after Yelp. But it’s actually even more interesting than we thought. Key to the new Google Maps for Mobile is Places, the new establishment-centric area which Google has been building up for about the past year or so. Places is basically an evolution of Google Local, which had been around for some time to pull in the best content for various local businesses. Previously,...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

Wow, iPads Almost Outsold Macs Last Quarter. And It Was The Most Macs ...
July 20, 2010, 8:56 pm | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

Of all the stellar numbers Apple released today with their Q3 2010 earnings, the most impressive has to be this: Apple sold 3.27 million iPads during the quarter. To put that into context, that’s only 200,000 fewer units than their entire Mac division sold. And it was the best Mac sales quarter ever. In other words, in just about any other quarter, the iPad would have outsold the Mac. And this is the first quarter that Apple is releasing sales figures for the iPad. Next quarter, you can...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

Meet The First Guy In Line To Buy An iPhone 4. His Name? Gray Powell.
June 24, 2010, 7:13 am | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

Sometimes coincidences are almost too good. Is this one? By now, you’ve heard the story about the unfortunate Apple engineer who lost his iPhone 4 prototype at a bar one evening. Gizmodo, the site which ended up purchasing the prototype, also outed the person who lost it: Gray Powell. This evening, local Bay Area affiliate ABC7 led off their coverage of tomorrow morning’s iPhone 4 launch with the Gizmodo story. They then went to one of the local Apple Stores to interview the first person...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

You Know Where Else It’s Hard To Delete Your Account? Mahalo
June 11, 2010, 9:01 pm | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

With regard to his recent spat with Facebook we don’t exactly see eye-to-eye with Mahalo CEO Jason Calacanis. But this morning, we did when an incident showed just how hard it is to delete your Facebook profile. But after reading that post, someone brought up a very good point. You know where else it’s hard to delete your account? Mahalo. Seriously, try to figure it out. You won’t be able to because apparently there is no option to do it on the site itself. In fact, according to these two...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

Twitter Hints At Content Recommendation Service With New Link Shortene...
June 8, 2010, 11:54 pm | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

Today, Twitter has expanded the testing of its own URL shortner — which is now using the t.co domain. The expansion (which will eventually be available to all Twitter users) is interesting in terms of what it means for the URL shortening ecosystem. But it also should be interesting from a broader perspective to the entire ecosystem because it opens up some new possibilities, such as content recommendation. Twitter developer Raffi Krikorian notes as much in the Twitter Development Talk...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

Steve Jobs: People Are Voting Against Flash By Buying An iPad Every 3 ...
June 2, 2010, 2:00 am | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

You may have thought you knew exactly what Steve Jobs thought about Adobe Flash considering he wrote a 1,700-word blog post on it back in April. But today at the D8 Conference outside of Los Angeles, he made himself a little bit more clear. He said that Flash is the latest in a string of technologies heading towards the end of its life. Jobs said that many technologies live in cycles — they have a Summer, and then go to the grave. Apple likes to choose technologies that are just in their...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

Who Needs Windows? Google Starts Putting Their Computers Where Their M...
June 1, 2010, 3:43 am | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

I’m not sure Google has ever come out and said that they hope the future of computing doesn’t involve Windows. But we all know they’re thinking it. However, while they may think that way, it’s been hard to take that too seriously since most of the computers they do their work on likely run Windows. In the near future though, that may not be the case. A new report tonight in the Financial Times suggests that Google is steering its employees away from using Microsoft’s dominant operating...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

An Inside Look At Facebook Questions, The Next “Killer App” Of Faceboo...
May 24, 2010, 12:52 am | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

When word first got out that Facebook was working on a question & answer service, the immediate reaction was that it would a “Quora killer.” That’s an obvious and sexy statement to make since Quora was built by former Facebook CTO Adam D’Angelo and engineer/manager Charlie Cheever. And it’s even more sexy since Benchmark invested in the service at a $86 million valuation (and it’s not out of private beta yet). But Blake Ross, the Facebook employee (with quite the illustrious history of...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

Chrome-To-Android Extension: Awesome, Deadly
May 23, 2010, 3:45 pm | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

One of the cooler, subtle things that Google showed off at Google I/O was its new Android Cloud to Device Messaging service that’s a part of Android 2.2. The “don’t call it Push Notifications” service allows you to automatically send links from your computer to your Android device. Everyone is talking about the ability to push Android apps (and eventually music/media) to your devices — and rightly so. But also useful is this link push ability. For example, if you looking at a page on...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

Diaspora, The Open Facebook Alternative, Soars Past $50,000 In Micro-F...
May 13, 2010, 2:04 am | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

Whenever a service rises to popularity, an “open” alternative is usually close behind. The problem is that most of these alternatives never go anywhere, let along get close to the service they’re trying to supplant. But the rate at which Diaspora*, the open project hoping to be the new Facebook, is gaining funding is getting too big to ignore. The New York Times profiled the NY-based project yesterday, noting that the team of four NYU students gave themselves 39 days to raise $10,000...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

Spell It Out: Co-Founder Of reCAPTCHA Leaves Google For Facebook
May 3, 2010, 10:53 pm | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

In September of last year, Google made a smart and obvious acquisition: reCAPTCHA, the service helps secure websites while at the same time helping computers learn to read old, scanned text. Google had reportedly been working on its own CAPTCHA solution, but found reCAPTCHA’s better, and were undoubtedly happy to welcome the talent behind it. Today, just seven months later, one of those key team members is defecting to Facebook. Ben Maurer was a co-founder of reCAPTCHA and its chief...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

Apple Execs Downright Giddy About The Tablet (For Them Anyway)
January 25, 2010, 11:52 pm | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

Yesterday, we noted that multiple sources have heard Steve Jobs refer to the soon-to-be-unveiled Apple Tablet as the “most important thing I’ve ever done.” Today brought two statements out of Apple that are just about as close as you’re ever going to get to a confirmation of that. In Apple’s press release for its strong Q1 2010 earnings, Jobs said the following: “The new products we are planning to release this year are very strong, starting this week with a major new product that we’re...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

Microsoft And Linux Hold Peace Tweets
July 3, 2009, 11:21 pm | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

Okay, it’s not exactly the Camp David Summit that took place in 2000 between the Israelis and the Palestinians, but sometimes the littlest gestures can go a long way. A couple of days ago, upon hearing that Microsoft had officially joined Twitter, the official Linux account sent out a tweet welcoming them. “Welcome to Twitter, @Microsoft!,” they said. The tweet sat unanswered for over a day, and it seemed like Microsoft may never answer. But about a few hours ago, they did. “@Linux thanks,...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »
