BZZZZZZ: YouTube Gets A Vuvuzela Button (Seriously)
June 24, 2010, 2:12 am | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

YouTube always has had a way with pranks. Some time in the last hour, the world’s largest video portal activated a new button on some videos that looks like a tiny soccer ball. Clicking it will activate an endless, incredibly annoying sound that sounds vaguely like a swarm of insects. Or, for anyone who has been watching the World Cup, like the dreaded Vuvuzela — an instrument commonly played in South Africa at football (soccer) games. South Africa is, of course, the host country for...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

Google Kills Its Homepage Background Image Experiment Early
June 10, 2010, 6:06 pm | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

Last night, Google decided to temporarily abandon the principles behind its famously spartan homepage in favor of something a little different: a background image, which has been a design element present on rival search engine Bing since it launched. Users predictably went nuts as their clean, bare homepages suddenly featured flowery hippo things and other colorful photographs. Countless tweets have complained about the images, and our story last night racked up over 200 comments....தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

May 24, 2010, 12:52 pm | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

This morning in a letter published in the Washington Post, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has responded to the barrage of criticism that has been directed toward the site since its set of announcements at f8. The key message: Zuckerberg says that with respect to its privacy controls “[Facebook] just missed the mark.” The letter isn’t particularly apologetic — you won’t find words like “sorry”, “fault”, or “mistake”. Instead, it’s more of an acknowledgment that Facebook has heard the criticism...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

The battle for e-book supremacy is about to get more interesting. This morning, the Wall Street Journal reported that Google is planning to launch its own digital book store by early summer. The new product will be called Google Editions. In addition to offering what sounds like a standard booksearch/storefront, Google also plans to allow independent book vendors to sell Google Editions from their own websites. The WSJ article notes that Google’s goal is to distinguish itself from...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

Last January, news broke that YouTube had signed its first international sports streaming deal, gaining multi-year rights to broadcast the Indian Premiere League’s 45-day cricket tournament worldwide. We’re now closing in on the conclusion of the tournament — the finals begin on Sunday morning — and YouTube has shared some initial stats. Right now, YouTube’s IPL channel has over 49.5 million views. That far exceeds the company’s internal expectations: we’re told that their stretch goal was...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

February 17, 2010, 7:00 am | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

Social gaming behemoth Zynga is going international. The company is opening an office in India, in the hopes of capitalizing on the rapidly growing market. Zynga says that India has 81 million internet users, and is projected to become the third biggest online market by 2013 (behind the United States and China). The new development house won’t be building games that are specific for the Indian market, nor will they be modifying existing games. Instead, it sounds like they’ll be...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

August 27, 2009, 3:02 am | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

Earlier today, Nokia announced that it was launching Nokia Money, a new payment service powered by Obopay that allows users to send money to friends, merchants, and service companies simply by using their phone numbers. The service will be showcased in early September at the Nokia World conference, with plans to roll it out to select markets in 2010. As we wrote when news broke of Obopay’s $70 million funding round (of which Nokia was a major participant in), one of the biggest markets...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »
