Kids, robots and Android phones
December 17, 2010, 7:42 pm | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

There’s no doubt that kids love robots and my son has had an Android phone since he was a toddler. It isn’t until we start pairing them together that something truly special forms—the Cellbot!People have been connecting smartphones with robots for years and in early 2010 some Googlers started to get involved in their 20% time. We first demoed robots from the Cellbots.com community in the Google booth at ISEF 2010 in May. It was amazing to watch how engaged the kids were with understanding...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

An update on China
June 29, 2010, 5:45 am | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

Ever since we launched Google.cn, our search engine for mainland Chinese users, we have done our best to increase access to information while abiding by Chinese law. This has not always been an easy balance to strike, especially since our January announcement that we were no longer willing to censor results on Google.cn.We currently automatically redirect everyone using Google.cn to Google.com.hk, our Hong Kong search engine. This redirect, which offers unfiltered search in simplified...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

Graduation: our latest Search Story
June 24, 2010, 5:54 pm | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

This is part of our summer series of new Search Stories. Look for the label Search Stories and subscribe to the series. -Ed.My dad’s family grew up in Vietnam. Even as they faced an uncertain future, they attended school, believing strongly in the value of education. So when my aunts and uncles immigrated to the U.S., they went to great lengths to make sure their sons and daughters had the best opportunities. It wasn’t always easy—learning a new language and finding a new job was a struggle...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

Celebrating Android
June 23, 2010, 6:07 pm | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

Today, Verizon and Motorola announced the newest device powered by Android at an event in New York. We were thrilled to be there, and humbled by what our partners have been able to accomplish with Android. Every day 160,000 Android-powered devices are activated -- that’s nearly two devices every second, used for the first time by people from New York to New Zealand. Android started with one simple idea: Provide a powerful, open mobile platform to drive faster innovation for the benefit...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

Google Code Jam 2010 registration now open
April 7, 2010, 8:00 pm | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

Let’s say that you have x different stocks, and the plots of their prices over time. You want to print them in newspaper, printing multiple plots on the same chart to save space. But here’s the catch: no two plots on the same chart can overlap, lest the readers be confused. Look at the plots and figure out the smallest number of charts required.Looking for a challenge like the riddle above? And I mean an exciting brain-twisting and turning kind of challenge. I mean competing with fellow...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

A new approach to China: an update
March 22, 2010, 7:03 pm | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

On January 12, we announced on this blog that Google and more than twenty other U.S. companies had been the victims of a sophisticated cyber attack originating from China, and that during our investigation into these attacks we had uncovered evidence to suggest that the Gmail accounts of dozens of human rights activists connected with China were being routinely accessed by third parties, most likely via phishing scams or malware placed on their computers. We also made clear that these...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

Love and the Super Bowl
February 8, 2010, 1:51 am | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

If you watched the Super Bowl this evening you'll have seen a video from Google called "Parisian Love". In fact you might have watched it before, because it's been on YouTube for over three months. We didn't set out to do a Super Bowl ad, or even a TV ad for search. Our goal was simply to create a series of short online videos about our products and our users, and how they interact. But we liked this video so much, and it's had such a positive reaction on YouTube, that we decided to share...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

Unicode nearing 50% of the web
January 28, 2010, 5:43 pm | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

About 18 months ago, we published a graph showing that Unicode on the web had just exceeded all other encodings of text on the web. The growth since then has been even more dramatic.Web pages can use a variety of different character encodings, like ASCII, Latin-1, or Windows 1252 or Unicode. Most encodings can only represent a few languages, but Unicode can represent thousands: from Arabic to Chinese to Zulu. We have long used Unicode as the internal format for all the text we search: any...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

January 27, 2010, 8:00 pm | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

Late last year we released the Social Search experiment to make search more personal with relevant web content from your friends and online contacts. We were excited by the number of people who chose to try it out, and today Social Search is available to everyone in beta on google.com.We've been having a lot of fun with Social Search. It's baby season here on our team — two of us just had little ones, and a third is on the way. We're all getting ready to be parents for the first time and...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

Helping computers understand language
January 19, 2010, 7:51 pm | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

An irony of computer science is that tasks humans struggle with can be performed easily by computer programs, but tasks humans can perform effortlessly remain difficult for computers. We can write a computer program to beat the very best human chess players, but we can't write a program to identify objects in a photo or understand a sentence with anywhere near the precision of even a child.Enabling computers to understand language remains one of the hardest problems in artificial...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

A new approach to China
January 12, 2010, 11:00 pm | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

Like many other well-known organizations, we face cyber attacks of varying degrees on a regular basis. In mid-December, we detected a highly sophisticated and targeted attack on our corporate infrastructure originating from China that resulted in the theft of intellectual property from Google. However, it soon became clear that what at first appeared to be solely a security incident--albeit a significant one--was something quite different.First, this attack was not just on Google. As part...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

Introducing Google Public DNS
December 3, 2009, 4:35 pm | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

When you type www.wikipedia.org into your browser's address bar, you expect nothing less than to be taken to Wikipedia. Chances are you're not giving much thought to the work being done in the background by the Domain Name System, or DNS.Today, as part of our ongoing effort to make the web faster, we're launching our own public DNS resolver called Google Public DNS, and we invite you to try it out. Most of us aren't familiar with DNS because it's often handled automatically by our...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »

Email in Indian languages
March 30, 2009, 11:50 pm | தலைப்புப் பக்கம்

It's hard for me to imagine going without email for a day. It's such an easy and convenient way to communicate with my friends and family. However, there was one limitation that bothered me: my family members and friends who prefer to communicate in Hindi did not have an easy way to type and send email in their language of choice. I am extremely happy to announce the launch of a new feature in Gmail that makes it easy to type email in Indian languages. When you compose a new mail in...தொடர்ந்து படிக்கவும் »
